Alana with Marko and Hazel
PFC Alana is the wife of Marko and the mother Hazel.
Biography
Early Life
When Alana was young, a librarian named Hazel recommended the works of D. Oswald Heist. His books would eventually save Alana's life.
Alana went to summer camp with a girl named Even and they stayed friends all the way through high school. Even met Alana's father Rustik after she and Alana graduated, long after Alana's parents legally separated. Alana joined the armed forces a few months after Even moved in with her and her father.
The War
Alana was a Private First Class when she arrived on the planet Mota while it was still heavily occupied by Wreath forces. At the time, Alana was working a turret on Countess Robot X's Vondertank. Their team had been called in to rescue a Coalition platoon trapped on an island with only one suspension bridge as an exit. Their mission was to destroy the bridge before the enemy could make it across and slaughter their own troops.
After the Vondertank's bombardier had been killed by enchanted shrapnel, X ordered Alana to man the station and release the bombs. Alana hesitantly dropped the bombs with a direct hit, most likely sending a hundred vehicles into the water. X later transferred Alana to the planet Cleave for her hesitation.
While on Cleave, Alana was positioned as a guard at a Coalition prison. While on duty, she would read Heist's A Night Time Smoke, a romance novel about a rock monster and a rich quarry owner. When she finished the book, Alana recommended and loaned it to her partner Lance Corporal McHenry right before Prisoner #9763572 began exclaiming in Blue, possibly trying a magical incantation.
When Alana got to the prisoner's cell, a Wreather named Marko, he was pleading for his wedding rings which were enchanted with a translation spell. Since the rings were confiscated after Marko's surrender and imprisonment, Alana was unable to understand him, so he tried to speak Language as best he could.
Marko: "Peas. Peas!"
Alana: "Mess is closed for the night, moony. Not my fault you didn't eat your dinner."
Marko: "Peas... be unto us. I and you. Not as alone... as we feel."
Alana responded by hitting Marko with the stock of her rifle, however, they would later become closer after Alana retrieved the rings for Marko.
