Fiona Staples is a Canadian comic book artist. She is the co-creator of Saga with writer Brian K. Vaughan.
Life and career[]
Fiona Staples is based in Calgary, Alberta and is a graduate of the Alberta College of Arts & Design.[1] Staples' first published work was 2006’s Done to Death with writer Andrew Foley for Markosia, which was first published shortly before she graduated college.[2] In the following years, she worked frequently in independent comics and for publishers Image and Wildstorm.
Brian K. Vaughan met Staples though Steve Niles, with whom she had worked on the miniseries Mystery Society. Struck by the originality of her art, Vaughan spoke with Staples and quickly realized Saga would be the dream ongoing series for the two to collaborate on.[3] Staples is collaborating with Vaughan to design the visuals of the Saga universe, "...every location and building, every character and species."[1]
